New Year, New Music

A busy new year start with new music by Vivaldi, Hayden, Lennon & McCartney. Whoever said variety was the spice of life was definitely in a choir...Happy New Year to all Cavan Singers.

Very busy end to year - and a Wedding!

A very belated catch up posting:

After a very successful trip to Sligo - where the choir sang so well on stage in the Mercy Convent, on the street of the town, and in the Radisson Hotel - we returned to Cavan to begin our busy Christmas season. We presented our concert in the Kilmore. We sang carols in the Oncology Unit of Cavan General, at the Golf Club Remembrance Service, at the launch of the Cavan Christmas Lights. We sang carols in Cavan town for charity, and at the Christmas Carol Service in the Church of Ireland. We wrapped it all up with our AGM.
In the midst of all this, many members of the choir made it through the inclement weather to sing at the wedding of Orla (soprano).

Preparing for the Winter Season

Lots to keep us rehearsing and performing in the next two months...

We are off to take part in the 22nd Sligo International Choral Festival on November 13th & 14th. We enjoyed our trip to Sligo in the past, and look forward to another good weekend of song. We sing in the festival competition as well as on the streets of Sligo, and at Mass.

In December we'll have our Christmas Concert on DEc 3rd (watch this space for details), and our seasonal carol singing in the Oncology ward of Cavan General Hospital, on the streets of Cavan, and at the Church of Ireland service.

Two great shows in Cavan Town Hall

Our two shows in Cavan Town Hall, celebrating our 25th Anniversary, wowed the audience each night. We sang choruses, duets and solos from Oklahoma, Andew Lloyd Webber, Les Miserables, West Side Story, My Fair Lady and Fiddler On The Roof. Our guests The Song Sisters did an Abba tribute, the boys from St Phelim's presented extracts from Oliver, and the girls from St Clare's did the same with Annie. Here's to the next 25 years of singing together!
